Before moving in make a checklist of your home interiors and plan whether you will use old furniture or purchase new ones. If budget permits you can start working around a central theme – either for the whole house or per room.
For example, if you want an elegant and modern contemporary mix similar to the inspiration of Chateau de Paz Model Houses, work around with earth-tone colors of gray, chocolate brown and cream. This way, your hard work won’t easily go out of style and small addition of bright colors like a throw pillow of purple will add more highlight and class the overall design rather than drain or contrast it.
Design furniture arrangements. Basics include sofa, center and side tables, dining table and chairs, closets, bed, bedroom side tables and desks. Then add in the accessories such as throw pillows, lamps, accent flowers and flower vases, carpets, pillows and beddings, wall frames, mirrors and curtains.
Remember, moving in to a new home is a milestone, so always make it fun and enjoyable.
Before your actual move-in day, install the basics – electrical upgrades, closet systems, and plumbing.
Add in outlets for phones, computers, lamps, ceiling fans and appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerator and electric range. Have an electrician install wall switches and set up the light fixtures and bulbs if you have other preferred upgrades from
the usual deliverable fixtures.
Plan where to build closets with double hanging poles, shelves and organizers. You can also use old shelves or purchase new ones that would fit your needs. This will help keep things organized and reduce
clutter when moving in.
Also make sure the plumbing is in order before you move in – that way things won’t get disturbed if you have to do more plumbing jobs when you have already moved in.
